As we all know , we can develop CRM plugin  it is A plug-in is a custom business logic that integrates with Microsoft Dynamics CRM to modify or extend the standard behavior of the platform. Plug-ins act as event handlers and are registered to execute on a particular event in CRM.

If MSFT provide such ability to develop plugin for ERP to registered to execute on a particular event in ERP?

where can i find such developement related documents and if we can develop one solution to cover all ERP products (AX;NAV;GP;SL and so on)?

I have the same question (0)

Yes, it is possible to extend functionality of Dynamics AX. But no, it's not possible to develop something you could plug into completely different applications. The products you mentioned use different architecture, programming languages and so on...

    Here's dev documentation for D365FO: docs.microsoft.com/.../developer-home-page

As Martin said, you can't develop one plugin that would work with these separate applications.

Thx for your response quickly.  it is clear.

Another question is: if all above applications support Plugin (registered to capture particular event like pre/post - operation) OR just extend functionality via Rest API?

I think the Plugin  and custimized App with Rest API are totally different. plugin is running on server side to capture some particular event.

D365 for Finance (and SCM) supports it. I don't know much about NAV, GP or SL, but there are separate forums for them (in this same community site), perhaps you can ask there. Or do a quick web search, I'm sure you'll find the info.

Note that you shouldn't assume that all other applications have exactly the same options as CRM. They're different product with their unique capabilities.

For instance, D365FO offers many other things apart from plugins and REST API, such as extension classes, X++ event handlers and business events.

it is clear now. looks we need to work on different applications one by one.

    Thx for your answer.

I don't seem to find documentation about working with plug-ins in D365FO, have you got any useful links that can support this information please ?

You have a separate thread about plug-ins in F&O, therefore let's keep this dicussion there.
