Project management accounting- Original Budget Workflow Error for Number sequence

For transaction type : Item , I am getting error for Number sequence at last step of workflow. (India Legal entity)

This is standard workflow for Original Budget approval for Projects.

The Stop error is - Stopped (error): Numbers could not be generated because a number sequence reference is missing. Ensure that all necessary number sequences are set up.

Well, for other Transaction type like Expense or Hour the workflow get completed successfully without any errors.

Not able to find which number sequence I am missing.

Hi Nikhil,

Unfortunately, the error is not detailed enough to directly know which number sequence is missing. When reading your question that there is no issue with hours or expenses, it might be related to the Lot ID (inventory transaction ID). Are you able to create item journals or sales order lines without an error?

When you open the number sequence wizard, it will show a list of number sequences that are not set up. They are not all required, but it can show you which number sequence related to items is missing.

In case number sequences are configured, another cause for not being able to retrieve number is in case the number is set up to be manual or when it reached the last number. However, the error here is suggesting that the reference is missing.

Well, the error system is giving is this much only "The Stop error is - Stopped (error): Numbers could not be generated because a number sequence reference is missing. Ensure that all necessary number sequences are set up."

So it is difficult to find which number sequence missing the reference. Well, I tried to find out all the Budget Related Number Sequences but couldn't found the correct one.

HI Nikhil,

The blog post you found, will not help you. That is to be used in case a new number sequence reference is developed which is not directly visible on a parameters page.

Have you checked number sequences via inventory parameters or the number sequence wizard?

Thank you @Abhilash Warrier Sir for your reply. I did checked all the number sequences associated with Budget in Project Accounting Module. Well, nothing worked.

I at last I run the number sequence Wizard - That helped to solve my error. The Workflow now is completed.

Hello @André Arnaud de Calavon Sir, No I did not found the exact number sequence which was missing. I generated all the missing number sequence.

I just have one doubt, hope running Number sequence Wizard does not affect the existing number sequences in D365 FNO.

Hi Nikhil,

The number sequence wizard will not overwrite existing number sequences and references. So, no impact on the existing ones.
