This problem occurs when the DEX_LOCK and DEX_SESSION tables do not exist in the database TEMPDB Database in the SQL Server that is being used for Microsoft Dynamics GP.

There is an article on this TK:  865801

And this was right through BING using:  Great Plains login due to unknown error

You can read the solution there.

When you set up the 32-bit system odbc connection, are you able to connect? Or, is it just when you try to Dynamics GP?

If you use Windows authentication, can you log on to the server? (outside of Dynamics GP)

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    OK,

This tells us it isn't a Dynamics problem. When you try to connect using the ODBC set up, what EXACTLY does the error message say? Is there a More Info button? If so, what does it say?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Yoy may have a DNS issue here. Can you launch SSMS and log in with Window Authentication and also with SQL credentials. Do you have an IT person who can help? Can you ping your server by name and then also by IP address? If only by IP adress try setting up the DSN using the IP address.

Is the SA login even enabled?
