Form capturing and subscription lists

HI,

On our website customers are able to download white papers through a Wordpress form. This is great for our employers, since they are much more accustomed/much easier to use Wordpress. They can make new pages and insert a download block. We are now transitions to Dynamics 365 marketing and ran into several problems with this. I was able to edit the form plugin so that we can automatically use form capturing.

However, I sadly found out too late that this doesn't allow users to subscribe to subscription lists. Is is somehow possible to map this checkbox to a subscription list? Otherwise we have to deal with custom css every time in Dynamics when we change our website (which our designers do a lot in Wordpress)

This seems essential and a very common business case. Why would you otherwise use form capturing?

Is this something that can be solved with a script/flow or is it on the roadmap?

Kr, Niels

    Hi @Niels vh,

Are you using a marketing form? Assuming yes,

    1. Create a subscription list

    2. Drag and drop it on your marketing form from the Toolbox

Also note that marketing forms and pages can reference external CSS libraries, so that you don't have to modify the forms constantly.

    Thanks,

    -DD

Create a Subscription List would be the best.

    Thanks

Hi Dilyana, no i'm using a wordpress form and use form hosting in Dynamics. And i now found out that form hosting is not capable of mapping to a subscription list that I already have and use on other marketing pages.

Do you have any information on how to reference external css libraries? I couldn't really find in depth info about this.

    Hello @Niels vh,

I get it. In your case, to use subscription centres, I think the best approach is

    1. Create your marketing forms in D365Marketing and add your subscription lists, style them as instructions below.

    2. Embed them on your websites.

    ---

    Re-custom CSS/ Javascript:

    1. Any custom CSS or Javascript normally gets stored as a Web resource (unless stored somewhere externally.)

If it's a Web resource, don't forget to publish first.

    2. Add a reference in the head section of your marketing page HTML using the link tag,

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="*****URL ***styles.css">

    Don't forget to go live.

    Many thanks,

    -DD

Thank you for your answer! That seems to work. Also apologies for the wrong 'title'. I was off course talking about form capturing and not hosting...But form hosting with custom css is a good solution for now. The next step is to incorporate a better captcha with embedded forms. My captured forms were already using the newest captcha because that is easy to configure in wordpress. (not so much in Dynamics..)

That's fine, glad we sorted it out, @Niels vh ,

Also I am always interested in feedback on the OOTB features. What do you feel is wrong with the Marketing Captcha you can use with the marketing forms?

    Thanks,

Captcha is more of 'customer experience' point. The captcha we can insert in a marketing form is really old fashioned and unreadable. It looks a bit ugly when you spend countless of hours on webdesign and then insert a captcha where people still have to type something over. Recaptcha by google (like in my image above) already is a lot easier to use (especially on mobiles). I would really love it if we can just embed a nicer form of captcha in Dynamics marketing (I found some things online, but those all require a lot of customisations and I like to stick to the basics since this has proven to save us a lot of time when updating.)

    Good point and agreed.

Why don't you raise it here. It is space for ideas and features that customers would like to be considered and included in the product in the future.
