Understanding Dynamics Users

I just setup a new environment.

By default I see 840 "Enabled users" in users.

I know for a fact that I only have 100 licenses and have only granted licenses to 80 people.

I always have thought that "Users" were those with a license?

I assume these 840 enabled users were populated from AD when the environment was setup. But what does "Enabled" mean?  How does one appear as an enabled user if they don't have a license assigned?

The weird thing is our company has about 4000 end users.  So why only the 840 showing as "Enabled"?

Thanks,

Terry

    Hi Terry,

Thank you for using Microsoft Dynamics Communities

"Enabled Users" are users that were synched to Dynamics 365 instance (by cloud sync service) and could access the organization after a security role assigned.

Some considerations about "Enabled Users" in Dynamics 365 instance:

    * Global Administrators from Office 365 will be inherited as Dynamics 365 user (administrative mode - cannot read data)

    * Dynamics 365 licensed users will be replicated/synched as Enabled Users (expected)

    * Flows Free licensed users also will be replicated as Enabled Users (this behavior is associated to application design)

    * During organization provisioning, all aplicable (licensed) user will be synched as Enabled Users

Could you please check if the non Dynamics 365 licensed users has a Power Automate license assigned (like Flow Free). If yes, I recommend to you use a Security Group in order to control the access and disable the unnessary users (remember that users cannot be deleted, only disabled). When a SG is associated with the D365 instance, only users included into this SG could access the instance (does not matter if they have D365 license assigned).

This post could guide you to accomplish that: community.dynamics.com/.../restrict-user-access-to-a-d365-instance-using-security-groups
