Unable to delete unused GL Strings

Hello

I am trying to delete a number of GL strings that were created several years ago but never used. You get the error message 'Account xxxx has account history. It cannot be deleted'.

I have run the Account Transactions smartlist for these account numbers with no results. I have also queried the index number in SSMS tables GL20000 Year-to-Date Transaction Open and GL30000 Account Transaction History and there are no results.

There is however results in table GL10111 Account Summary History for these index numbers. How is it possible for a transaction to be in this table with no associated GL transaction?

We also have an archive company which I thought perhaps GL transactions from GL20000 and GL30000 were archived, leaving a transaction behind in the main company, but only querying that database there were no transactions either.

Reconcile did work. The log came out with no errors but it seems to have removed the transactions in GL10111 anyway and I could delete the string.

Hello Tania

Go to Microsoft Dynamics GP > Utilities > Financial > Reconcile

Include the history years that shall be corrected, this will ensure to reconcile the account balances against account transactions.

Hi Ian

Thanks for your response. It says there are 2.8 millions records in Account Transaction History before I start to run checklinks on it, but when I run it the error log prints immediately with no results, it doesn't even seem like it's running anything. There is no progress bar. This seems a bit strange?

Hi,

If you don't mind deleting the summary information you can manually run a query for the 1 ACTINDX in SSMS.

Alternatively if you want to make sure that the records in the detailed tables (GL20000 and GL30000) match what is in the summary tables (GL10110 and GL10111), then I recommend you run a reconcile on potentially all years (Tools - Utilities - Financial - Reconcile).

Sounds like corruption from what you describe. May be worth running Check Links against Account Master and Account Transaction History.
