Journal Transaction Date Greater than the posted date

Here's a strange thing, I have found cases in one of the Journals (report as finished) where the transaction date on the detail line is one day greater than the posted date on the journal header...and only for those posting that occur after 5 pm PST

...looks like some kind of time zone date problem...

The transaction date on the detail line of the journal should be identical with the posted date on the header.

Isn't that right?.

RE: Journal Transaction Date Greater than the posted date

No, there's no requirement for the transaction date on a journal line to have any relationship with the posted date on the journal header.

The posted date on the journal header is just when it was posted.  It is a UTC date field stored in Z time in the database and translated to your local time zone when it is displayed.  It is nothing more than when the journal was posted.

The transaction date on the journal lines determines the date it appears in the ledger.  Journals can have lines with different dates, i.e. it is not a requirement that all lines in a journal have the same transaction date.  Journals can have lines that are forward dated, and back dated, and with reversing entries (lines that transact on one date and reverse the next day).
