Subgrid Maximum Number of Rows not working on smaller columns

In my CRM model driven app, I have 3 columns on my account form. The two outer columns are 28 wide and the middle column is 44 wide. When I add a component with a subgrid in any of the outer columns where the result looks more like icons, the maximum number of rows setting doesnt work and it shows up to 250 rows. If i have it in the middle column where it shows as a table and less like icons, the maximum number of rows works. My sandbox environment seems fine, production is not working at all. I can't figure out the difference, all settings look the same. Can anyone give me any ideas on what to check to solve this? Thank you!

I discovered the answer on my own, the difference was the use between a regular subgrid, and the deprecated read only grid. The deprecated one works, the regular subgrid does not.
