RMS v2 with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express behind firewall, what ports to allow?

Folks,

We are about to put our SO RMS v2 servers running SQL Server 2008 R2 Express behind the firewall due to PCI compliance (network segmentation).

Could you comment what ports besides TCP 1433 I should allow on the firewall for the POS registers to connect to the SO SQL server?

Your support is appreciated.

Thanks,

...Alex

    Hi, Scott.

Everyone wants to answer the easy ones, but how come I can't get anyone to weigh in on my pinpad question?

    Alex,

Voucher Server and Voucher Client are features included with Feature Pack 1 to allow RMS to use and process Global Vouchers: vouchers that can be sold at one store and redeemed at all stores in your environment.

    Scott,

I am not familiar with Voucher Server or Voucher Client, we run HQServer and HQClient, are you referring to these?

    Thanks,

    Hello Alex,

    Thank you for your post.

As noted, 1433 is the default SQL port you will want open, unless you change this per the link Ed provided.

You will also want to check the configuration takes in Headquarters Server, Voucher Server, Headquarters Client and Voucher Client to make sure the listed ports are open, if you are using Headquarters.

    Thank you,

TCP 1433 - which is the default and should probably be changed.
