Help! I made a transposition error on a deposit for Period 12, which is closed. Other than re-opening that period, is there any other way to correct that deposit?

Hi All,

I made a transposition error on a deposit for Period 12, which is closed.  Other than re-opening that period, is there any other way to correct that deposit?  

Any updates would be greatly appreciated.

    Update, they  made a transposition error on a deposit for Period 12,  the deposit was keyed through cash receipts and then added as a bank deposit. Then they ran the run the year end processes and has made an adjustment for year end. Now they need to take care of this in Period 1. The customer's account has $180 too much money, as does the bank account.

    Would the paid transaction removal in GP article 853678 help?

    Hi Deborah,

    Paid Transaction Removal will not address the issue you are having. If I'm understanding this correctly, you had a cash receipt in December of 2016 that was deposited in January of 2017. You could void the January Deposit and then enter it in 2016 without changing any numbers on the general ledger or financial statements. Nothing you do in the Bank Deposit Entry window will affect the general ledger. That said, how can we help? Is your general ledger balance incorrect? Does your GL match your checkbook balance? Do you just have a one-month problem that will work itself out? What result are you needing to achieve?
