Faster way to matrix existing items

Posted on by 75

We have an existing database containing a large quantity of products. In the past all items with sizes and colours were entered on their own, outside of any matrix. Now we're putting our products online and need to matrix these existing items. It's proving to be extremly time consuming, but seems to me could be sped up considerable with increased functionality in the matrix.

Is there a faster way to grab a "batch" of items when adding existing items to a new matrix? For example, right now we create a new matrix for an existing shoe with two colours and 9 sizes, We have to "add exisiting item" 18 times, where it would be a heck of a lot faster to just grab all 18 items at once. Likewise, once those items are in the matrix, is there a way to select multiples and change the dimensions of all at once? (like changing 9 to one colour, and then the other 9 to the 2nd colour?)

Thanks, Jamie

No way currently.  But is an interesting idea.

Sadly, I guess Microsoft assumed everyone would just create the matrix first.   They included a way to create the matrix and setup the demensions.  Then hit the create components button.
