    Hi Nilesh,

    Your options are:

Integration Manager (If you have recently purchased GP, you get Integration Manager for conversions for free. This is a 90 day free use version of IM that you can use to convert data from your old system. After that it expires, and you will need to purchase the IM product). You can import master and transactional data into GP from an XL sheet, a flat file etc.

eConnect - You need to own a licence for the Developers Toolkit which includes the eConnect application. This allows you to integrate data in to GP. Mainly used for ongoing regulat integration requirements such as integrating sales invoices from an external sales management system or something like that. The cost probably precludes it from being used just for conversion / integration of opening data and balances

Macro's - as you said, you can use macros. These are fine. They obey all of the GP business logic so it is very hard indeed to get corrupt data.

Table Import - a utility in GP that allows you to import data from a file directly into a GP table. It can be useful when there are only a small number of related tables...but if you miss a related table that needs data inserted you can end up with data corruption. Always run a checklinks on the area you are importing into after you run the table import. In most cases this will find related tables that need data, and create the required data in them based on the table you imported into.

Copy Company Utility - Available as a free download from Customer / Partnersource. This utility allows you to set up a new company and copy across certain records from an existing company...such as the debtor and creditor master records, or the item records etc. You can also copy across transactional data - ie sales invoices etc.

Bespoke MSSQL queries and scripts that insert data in to GP tables. You really want to know what you are doing with this one. Similar really to the GP Table Import utility.

Any one know of any other options to import data into GP?
