Changes for registry keys for Ax 2012 are revert after reboot (Windows10Pro)

Hi ,

I installed Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 on windows 10 pro system and need to edit directory path as below in order to open ax application.

Before

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Dynamics\5.0\Configuration\Original (installed configuration)]
“bindir”=”C:\Program Files \Microsoft Dynamics AX\50\Client\Bin”
“datadir”=”C:\Program Files \Microsoft Dynamics AX\50\Client\Data”
“directory”=”C:\Program Files \Microsoft Dynamics AX\50\Client”

After (adding (x86)

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Dynamics\5.0\Configuration\Original (installed configuration)]
“bindir”=”C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics AX\50\Client\Bin”
“datadir”=”C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics AX\50\Client\Data”
“directory”=”C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics AX\50\Client”

After reboot , it change back to original and cannot open ax again .

Please advise easiest way to fix this issue permanently.

Hi SYH,

The easiest solution is to work with the client configuration utility or configuration files to open the application with the correct configuration. The AX configuration utility is interacting with the register. It is not recommended to change the registry directly.
