Test printing a custom check layout for a customer

Good day Comrades,

I have a client with some printing issues on a custom check layout (Stub/Check/Stub) I've updated the report in report builder. Basically, it's a matter of the printed material lining up in proper columns of the check paper.

I'm wondering if there's a more efficient method than what I'm doing...

Here are the steps I took...

1) View scan of a print from customer showing misaligned material to be printed

2) Adjusted field boxes in report builder as a best guess where they should line up

3) Imported custom layout to BC, and asked customer to test print since he has the Check paper

4) Adjust fields based on feedback from customer

5) Repeat steps 1-4 until fields line up according to customer's standards.

*I'm pretty much adjusting the report blind, without being able to actually understand where these may line up. Is there a way to accomplish this task quicker or test easier on my end?

I have the same question (0)

Hi, There is nothing wrong with your approach. . . But generally, it is better for developers to go to the customer's site to test the problem of this kind of customer's special printer. Even if you have the same printer locally, sometimes you can't restore the client's settings.

Just an idea, hope it gives you some hints.

    Thanks.

What we do is we will ask the customer for a blank and printed check so we can align the check and make it look as close to what they have today.  Then we will go to the customer and have them test it on their printer.  After you import the check into the custom report layout you can "Run Report" from that area which makes it much faster you can just choose the reprint option.
