Can we buy BC Team Member license without buying Premium or Essential license?

Hi Community,

May i ask if its possible for any organization to use only BC team member license without purchasing Premium or Essential license?

Otherwise, if all organization requires to purchase at least a premium or essential license, does it means that all users have to be a Full user license?

Heard from a partner that you seems to not be able to use BC unless you first acquired a Premium or Essential License.

Won't it be a hefty cost for small and medium companies?

No you cannot, And it does not make any sense either:

Having Team Member licenses only, will result in having a lot of orders and journals... that can never be posted.

For that is the essential difference between Team Members and full licenses: Team Members can only prepare... not actually post. (besides Time Sheets... but they are posted through the Job Journal)

You will always need at least one Essential or Premium license in order to post the documents and journals prepared by Team Members.

You will need at least one Premium or Essential license.

Even if Microsoft allows it, Team Member license is very restricted that you won't be able to make use of BC properly without at least one Essential user.

As mentioned by other experts, if you only buy a team member license, even the master data cannot be created.

If you don't want to spend a lot, you can just buy an essential license, and then other users use Microsoft 365 licenses to read-only data in teams.
