Hi,

since we migrated to CRM 2013 it's no longer possible to select text from a read only field to copy it to the clipboard with IE. Are there any suggestions or hints?

Thx Kathrin

    Is this cloud or on-premise?

We are on-premise and I read text from a read-only field using

    var value = Xrm.Page.getAttribute("fieldname").getValue();

Using IE 11 or Google Chrome you can double click on the read-only field and it should highlight all the text from which  you can copy it using Ctrl-C.

    Hi Jason,

It tried Google Chrome and found this working. But in general we discovered a lot of script problems since upgrading to CRM 2013 though CRM is released for almost all Versions of Windows and IE . Most of our users are on Windows 7 and use IE 9 or 10. Windows 8 and IE 10 is a very stable configuration, IE 11 with Windows 8 seems to be a good idea.

Have you got any experiences regarding configurations of Windows and IE?

    Thx

    Kathrin

IE9 & 10 are both supported while IE11 is not just yet (but seems to run OK when in compatibility mode). If the script errors seem to be generated from custom scripts you should review that they use CRM 2013 supported code.

I'm using IE11 Win8.1 and if there is a read only field (in the header or in body) I can't select the text to copy. It won't allow you to highlight it, or double click it.

I think the same applies if you have notes in a case that has been closed for example.

This is indeed a really annoying problem. I can't copy the read only text either. Any resolution to this?

    Thanks in Advance!

    Kind Regards

    Andres

CRM 2013 SP1 supposedly fixes this:

    support.microsoft.com/.../2941390

"Users are not able to select text on forms or fields that are read-only in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013"

Thank you! I will try this.

I did the install of Service Pack 1 (6.1.0.581) (DB 6.1.0.581). Unfortunately I still can't copy/select text on fields or forms that are read-only.

That's odd, because there was mentioned that SP1 should resolve the issue.

Any other ideas how to get this working?

I found this working now after UR 2 with Windows 8 and IE 10, so it meets our requirements.
