"Update users from Microsoft 365" doesn't delete users that are deleted in Microsoft 365

Hi,

I noticed that when I select "Update users from Microsoft 365" it doesn't actually delete users that are deleted in Microsoft 365. It would only bring newly created users in Microsoft 365 to Business Central. But the user is deleted in Microsoft 365, I can't delete the user that was previously imported into Business Central. There is an option that allows me to "Delete" the user in Business Central, but I got a message indicating I have to do it in Microsoft 365. But this is already done in Microsoft 365.

How do I delete Business Central users that have been already deleted in Microsoft 365?

Jason

Yes - "Update users from Microsoft 365" doesn't delete users, it only brings newly created users.

You cannot delete users that have posted transactions in Business Central. If you try, you will get the error message that you are getting. What you can do is set the user as Disabled in the Users Page. There is an audit trail in the system for posted transactions that lists the user id of the user that created the transactions so thats one of the reason users that posted transactions cant be deleted.

If users haven't posted any transactions, first you will have to delete the user from the User Settings page, and then from the Users page.

    Hi Valentin,

Thanks for the info. I was wondering where do I check the audit trail to see if the user has posted any transactions?

    1. one way to check is in the G/L Registers Page - you can filter by the User ID field

    2. if you receive the error message that you do when you try to delete a user that means there are transactions by that user

Unlike the On-Premises version, the added users in the SaaS version, including the Delegated Administrator, are not allowed to be deleted once they have transaction data.

    Hope this helps as well.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

i am having the same problem. I just created a new user in M365 and Updated the user into BC. The user was just created and i am 100% certain that there are NO transactions entered. I go to User Setting and deleted the record for that user but when i proceed to delete the user, i still get the message that:

You cannot add or delete users on this page. Administrators can manage users in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Do you want to go there now?

Why am i not able to delete the user?
