Dynamic memory error in GP10 SP3

When most of our users try to print, they get a dynamic memory error and the program crashes.  I can print from the GP Server, a 64 bit windows 2003 server, and also my workstation which is also 64 bit (windows 2008)....

I have a case opened with Dynamics Support, but they haven't been able to help me yet, especially since they aren't even their on the weekend, and don't come in until 9am Eastern Time..

But that's neither here nor there...I was just wondering if anyone else encountered this problem and what you did to fix it.

I tried as suggested on Google and deleted all the files in %TEMP% which include c-tree temp tables used by GP.

Support also said, "we do not support c-tree tables", Really, why do you use them then in GP?  use SQL, or sql server compact or something you do support"

C-Tree tables were used by GP in years past but have all been replaced.  Thus deleting them should be no problem generally.  I think one or two are actually still in use in the list of fields, tables, screens, et cetera.

How much memory (RAM) do your users have?  The machine that is supporting/hosting the actual printer, how much memory (RAM and Disk) does the machine have?

They are using XP SP3 with 1GB - 2 GB RAM.  One of the printers in question is an HP 2300, it is et for 4 MB of RAM on the server, which is what is has.  We have been printing to that printer for years, before we started getting errors Friday.  Also if they change printers, they still get the error.

Have you tried to recreate the reports.dic?   Or restore from prior to Friday (if no changes have been made to it)?    The reports.dic can cause many issues.   You do not list the exact error.

I did restore the reports.dic, it didn't help with the error.

What was the exact error?   I think that would be very helpful.

The popup error Message simply reads "Not enough dynamic memory".

Well long story short, after pointing a workstation to my gp development server, which had known good databases and files, I determined it had to be on the client side.  For most workstations, uninstalling GP, and deleting the program directory and registry keys, and doing a complete reinstall seemed to fix the problem.  Microsoft product support was no help at all, they suggested to recreate DSN's, and recreate the reports.dic and forms.dic.  And if neither of those worked, to restore my database to an earlier point in time.

After I tried their suggestions, except restoring my dabases to an earlier point in time, which would have done no good, they then chose to ignore me.

I think I got more help on here than with paid support.

    Thanks for the help,

    Scott
