SQL connection instance for installing eConnect - GP 2010

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am creating installation instructions for our help desk by adding the eConnect module in GP 1010.      When I get to the step SQL Connection Information,  I am unable to proceed as a member of the help desk.  We are trying to keep their access to the database to the bare minimum.   The question is,  do I setup a security group in SQL and what rights would they need at a bare minimum to complete this step?

Check page 27 of the eConnectAdminGuide.pdf here: www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

Basically, you need to make sure the Windows login of the user performing the installation is a member of DYNGRP for DYNAMICS and the GP company databases. You can do this in Login Properties >> User Mapping in SQL Management Studio.
