Hello,

We are wanting to Migrate email from Exchange (on-premises) to Office 365 (in the cloud).

I was wondering if there will be any conflicts/issues with our CRM (2013 Onprem)

Does anyone know of any good online resources regarding this?

This isn't the correct forum for that question, you should head over to the Exchange community: social.technet.microsoft.com/.../home

Here's a link to get you started planning for the migration, just to not leave you empty handed:

CRM 2013 On-Premises supports connecting to Exchange only by utilizing the CRM Email Router. Potential issues is if you're already using the email router to track emails, then the state file will not have information about which emails are already tracked in CRM. In other words, if you're already using the CRM Email Router to automatically promote emails to CRM then you could get duplicates by reconfiguring it to use Exchange Online/Office365 instead.

That being said, utilizing the CRM Email Router for CRM 2013 with Office365 is really easy, and because the router is the one pulling emails you do not need to worry about traffic from the internet going into your server. As long as the server which runs the Email router has access to your O365 platform you won't need to add any new incomming firewall rules.

    Hi Marius,

    Thank you for your reply.

In our case we are using the email router. Is there any online resources for more information?

Here's a link on how to set up the email router: support.microsoft.com/.../2708706

Unfortunately, there isn't any official resources on migrating to Office 365 with existing email router settings, you will have to traverse some blogs and the dynamics community to see if anyone has a better way to solve it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the email router only supports EITHER exhange online/office365 OR exchange on-premises, meaning that you can't use both the old server and Office365 at the same time in the same email router.

I would like to suggest Kernel Migrator for Exchange software to migrate data from Exchange (on-premises) to Office 365 without any hassle. The software also helps in Exchange-to-Exchange direct migration, Office 365 to office 365 migration.

No conflicts would arise with your CRM application if you migrate to Office 365

This resource would help you to migrate from Exchange to Office 365.

Setting up an email cutover migration to Office 365 requires careful planning. Before you begin, here are a few things to consider:

    1. You can move your entire email organization to Office 365 over a few days and manage user accounts in Office 365.

    2. A maximum of 2,000 mailboxes can be migrated to Office 365 by using a cutover Exchange migration. However, it is recommended that you only migrate 150 mailboxes.

    3. The primary domain name used for your on-premises Exchange organization must be an accepted as a domain owned by you in your Microsoft 365 or Office 365 organization.

    4. After the Office 365 migration is complete, each user who has an on-premises Exchange mailbox also will be a new user in Office 365. But you'll still have to assign licenses to users whose mailboxes are migrated.

You will find rest of the details over here.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../cutover-migration-to-office-365

    I hope this helps!

    Regards.
