Adding a Check box and drop down to the same field.

Posted on by 460

Hi,

This is a strange query and probably not possible, but does anyone know if its possible to add a check box and have a drop down based on the answer given in the check box in the same field in a  form?

Basically, I have created a field called 'Repeating Maths Exam' with a checkbox in it, if the person ticks the box, to say they are repeating the Maths exam, I need a list to open in the field containing dates of when they might be repeating it.

Is this possible?

many thanks as always.

"I need a list to open in the field containing dates of when they might be repeating it" for this requirement

you can create simple date field here instead of liist.

As you have already created checkbox field , so you just need to create a date field  and configure a business rules to show hide date field.

If the user has to just select on Check Box and then just one date value, like David suggested, you can achieve this with a Two Options field and a datetime field.

If its a List of dates, if these dates are dynamic values, you might be better off with a lookup field to an entity that has the list of dates with possibly some text to describe it and linking to filter the dates.

And you can use business rule or JS to show and hide the fields.

I would also recommend that you have a look at the possiblity of using UCI custom controls as well to implement better looking controls that mobile / tablet friendly

You'll need to create 2 fields. One boolean (Two Options) field for the check box, and a separate field for the input (in this case a date field). You can use a business rule to show/hide or lock/unlock the 2nd field based on the value in the checkbox
