Results. update not allowed for field 'RetailVendTable,AccountNum'

Hello everyone,

Recently, I encounter Error message: Results. update not allowed for field 'RetailVendTable,AccountNum' when I import new Vendor or update Vendor information in entity Vendors V2 by Data Management or with Excel Data Connector. I googled and there're some posts that said changing Account Number field into an editable field (Allow Edit == Yes). I don't think this is a good idea, because Account number is a key field, it can't be turned to editable field.

So could you suggest a better approach to this error?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Magnolia

AccountNum is the primary key of the VendTable so you can't update it using the data entity. Do you want to change the AccountNum for vendors? The you will have to use renamePrimaryKey method on the table from code to do that.

    MS documentation

renamePrimaryKey  Renames the foreign keys in other tables according to the change of the corresponding primary key value in this table.

I don't update Account Number, I only update other information. Besides it also happens with import creating new vendors. That error is like random error, not the real error.

Did you ever find a solution?

I am trying to update a couple of columns on vendors using Data Management and getting the exact same error. I'm not changing the vendor number or the groups or anything. Just the 1099 fields.

Gives me the error even though I export the file, update my columns and re-import. The numbers are identical.

    Follow up, I simplified everything

    Opened the vendors in Excel
    - only updated 13 of 2000 vendors by changing the 'reports 1099' to yes.

    Failed with this error:
A row update in data set VendorsV2 was not published. Error message: 'Write validation failed for table row of type 'VendVendorV2Entity'. Infolog: Warning: Field 'Vendor account' does not allow editing.; Warning: Invalid specification of Vendor account; Warning: Number sequence APVENDORS does not allow change to a lower number..'

72camaross, the message doesn't look the same to me. This thread is about update not allowed for field 'RetailVendTable,AccountNum', but I see no remark of VendRetailTable in your error message. It could be a problem with VendorAccountNumber field of the entity.

Why do you think it's about RetailVendTable?
