Management Reporter - Column Defintion - Attribute category list.

ReportReport

Hi,

We are converting our Frx reports to Management Reporter.. We used to have an attribute category called ORMSTRNM to display the vendor name. With MR, I should be able to just find the Vendor Name from the attribute category list according to documentation but for some reason, my attribute category list seems very limited compared to what I saw online.. So my question is, how is this attribute category list is being populated?  I'm using the legacy data provider, not the data mart.. Could this be the reason?

Thanks

RE: Management Reporter - Column Defintion - Attribute category list.

    Hello Kathy,

In previous versions of Management Reporter, data providers displayed all attribute values that were listed in the ERP database, regardless of context or functionality. This included attributes that were not associated with transaction data. When you use the data mart integration, Management Reporter 2012 now displays only the attribute values that are associated with a transaction. This improves report generation and data analysis. So if you see a listing of attributes for your ERP but you do not see it as an option in your environment, it is likely that there are no transactions posted that include the attribute.

For Dynamics GP, you would not use the attributes named Customer/Vendor; however, you would use one of the attributes such as "Originating Master Record Name" (from the ORMSTRNM GL column) in the GP company database to display the vendor associated with the GL transaction. Note that the attribute you want to report on has to be included as part of a transaction and be listed in the GL tables (GL10xxx, GL20xxx, GL30xxx).

Also, I see a question was asked regarding MR 2012 with Dynamics AX. Please note that unfortunately, the information about the Vendor and Customer attributes no longer being available is incorrect. There was a change around CU10 where Vendor and Customer are in the "AttributesToIgnore" list by default. This can be easily modified in a config file by the MR Administrator. If you have further questions regarding MR 2012 with Dynamics AX or enabling these attributes, please start a new thread in the Dynamics AX forum.

    Thanks!

So, does this mean that these Attributes are no longer available for selection?  I specifically would like to create a report that uses the Country from the Vendor Card and the Country from the Customer Card.  Would this still be possible?

    Zaza,

The Customer and Vendor attributes were deprecated in later versions.  This would require a developer to customize MR.

I am on Microsoft Dynamics AX and I am on Management Reporter CU10 and I used to have an attribute categories for customer name and vendor name in MR CU9 but these are no longer visible in MR CU10.  Is this a know bug?

Thanks Harry for your answer.. My reports are showing the vendor name now.   I'm just wondering how this list gets populated.  The list you posted looks very much the same as the one I see but in 'how to' videos for MR, their attribute category list is quite different.. I'm just wondering how I can add items to that list.  Do you know?

    Zaza,

The Attribute Category you reference from FRx is Originating Master Record Name, and it corresponds to Vendor and Customer Names for transactions originating in the Purchasing and Receivables modules.   You can accomplish this and much more by defining a column in the column layout as ATTR, where you would normally put DESC, FD or CALC then select the appropriate Attribute Category in the Row below.
