What is the better way to deploy solution ?

Hi everybody.

At the moment we have one huge unmanaged solution in our CRM and all changes are made there. When we need to deploy it to production environment we just import and export it. It takes quite long time and from time to time the different issues occur during deploy ...

Will it be better (from time point of view and reliability) to create new small solution for some new next requirements and import\export this new small solution ?

Will be thankful for help and attention )

    Hello,

This sounds correct. I do deploy the same way creating small "patch" solution to deploy latest (may be small) changes.

I can only tell you how we make this :)

    first:

we always use unmanaged-solutions if our customer has a Test and Production-Organization.

This has the advantage, that you can always create a new Testsystem (with real-data) from the production-organization (or if you break your Test-Environment) if you have to test with read-data.

    second:

We create new (unmanaged) solutions for each bigger customization. You can use these for just tranfering the changes to the production-environment and then delete the solution afterwards.

So you don't have to many solutions for each customization in production-organization.

But as I wrote: this is just the way we do it ;)

Is there some "official" links which approve this small patches strategy ?

Yes. With CRM 2016 "patches" approach was delivered as a part of solution - msdn.microsoft.com/.../mt593040.aspx
