Need to see whether the field is mandatory or not under solutions

So I have created a solution and have declared multiple fields based on requirement. Now the requirement has changed and now there are few mandatory fields. One way (that I know of) to check whether a field is mandatory or not is to click on the field and get to the field details. Is there a way if I can find out this information on the page itself which shows the list of all fields. That way I do not need to get into each individual field one by one thus saving my time.

There is no easy way to do it using the OOB features, but you can use the below XrmToolBox tools to quickly findout what the required fields are without clicking each one individually.

    1.) Metadata Browser

    2.) Metadata Document Generator

I would use Metadata Document Generator as you can export the result to excel and filter out the required entities or attributes easily.

    Hi,

If the entity forms has few fields then you can check one by one fields which will not be time consuming. What you need to do is double click on fields or single click in fields and select change properties from ribbon button. Then it opens up in a pop window where in you can see requirement on the screen then you can make changes there if you want.

And also check if you have huge number of fields on the form them pls follow another members post XrmToolBox which is also an excellent technique...

    1) Use this tool crm2011metabrowser.codeplex.com

2)use this tool from Microsoft Dynamics CRM SDK  folder location SDK\Tools\MetadataBrowser\MetadataBrowser_2_0_0_5_managed.zip.

    3) You can write console application using msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh547411.aspx

Thanks everyone for your replies. Appreciate your feedback.

I have found an easier way to check which fields are mandatory. Since all the fields are part of the form, I can go to the form and see there since the mandatory fields have * symbol next to the field name.

You say your requirement is to see which fields are required, but reading your post it sounds like you really need to be able to ensure that the correct list of fields is required / not required.

In the web UI, looking at a list of fields, you can select multiple fields and then click the Edit button on the action bar above the list. In there you can set the fields to Required or Optional (or recommended). So if you know which fields changed in the specification, you can make that change all at once. Also you can select all the fields that should be required and make sure that they are, and all the fields that should not be and set them too. This way you are not checking to see their current setting, but rather setting it how it should be, which is a different way of getting to the goal of making sure the system matches the documentation.
