Field mapping not working

Hello everyone,

I am currently having a problem with mapping in my custom entity. I have an entity called Position Order where we need an account (field name is Host Organization) and a contact (field name is Job Supervisor).

I have added the mapping configuration as it is shown below.

But then I click on creating contact on the fly from the form, it does not map it.

Any thoughts why this is happening?

    Hi,

Field mapping works from 1 to N (basically, when you are adding something to the subgrid).

You've configured the mapping correctly, it seems, but it will work in the different direction - you have to be on the contact form.. then, if there is a subgrid where you have position orders associated to the contact, adding a new position order there would initialize Host Organization with the contact's account.

Thank you for the clarification Alex.

Is there an alternative for this scenario? Or a workflow is the only thing that would allow me to populate the Company Name with the Host Organization?

    Hi Lucas,

not sure.. I guess if you create a workflow for the position order entity (on the update  of that contact field and, also, on the create of the position order), you might update the contact from that workflow. Sure it's not the same user experience (company name will be empty when creating a contact).

Well, might also add a ribbon button ("create contact") to the position order.. and pass account id through the parameters to the new contact form.. again this won't cover some of the UI scenarios.
