I want to update child records based on parent records so is there any workflow tools for on premise dynamics 365 ?

What is the triggering point to update the child records? Upon child record creation or on update of parent record?

updating of parent record is the triggering point.

I want to change the status of the child records to inactive when the status of the parent record is inactive.
