exporting full transaction data

Hi

Which is the best way to export full data from Dynamics into excel or csv?  I'll need all supplier/customer invoices/credits/payments (so what invoice the payment was applied to) and any other data posted to a 'job' such as timesheets.  It's the full data set I'm looking for, not just a particular project or supplier.

thanks

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

You can use the Config. Package, provide all the tables together as you require and export that into Excel.

    Thanks.

thanks, but I'm a user rather than an admin or tech support - is there another way?

    Hi,

You must have that permission to create that, please check or check if you can copy those rows into excel file. or if there is a important data you are trying to export, you must seek a admin permission before doing that.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

if you are user you can use configuration package.

Globally search the page that you want the data.

Use Ctrl+Alt +F1 to open inspection page. Once the page is open. You can get the table no of that page. Just note down all table no.

Globally search Configuration Packages and then in line add all table no and in the line there is action export to excel.

Or you can do Open in excel go to page there is action Open in Excel. But you cannot see entire data in Open in excel where as in Config package can give you all data.

If my answer was helpful to you, please verify it so that other users know it worked. Thank you very much.

There are several ways to export full data from Dynamics into Excel or CSV format, but the most efficient and comprehensive way would be to use the Dynamics Data Export Service (DES).

The Dynamics Data Export Service is a cloud-based service that provides a simple way to extract large volumes of data from Dynamics 365 and store it in Azure data storage, including Excel and CSV formats. It allows you to extract all supplier/customer invoices/credits/payments, including the invoice number that the payment was applied to, and any other data posted to a 'job' such as timesheets.

To use the DES, you'll need to set up a data project that defines what data you want to export, including the entities, fields, and filters you want to use. You can also schedule the export to run automatically on a regular basis.

Alternatively, you can use the built-in export features in Dynamics to export specific data sets manually. To export all supplier/customer invoices/credits/payments and any other data posted to a 'job,' you'll need to use the Advanced Find tool to create a query that includes all relevant entities and fields. You can then export the results of your query to Excel or CSV format.

Overall, the best approach will depend on your specific needs and the complexity of your data set. The DES is generally the most efficient and comprehensive option, but if you only need to export a small subset of data, the built-in export features may be sufficient.

The issue is that DES is not available for Business Central.

If you want to use  Azure Data lakes then this open source solution might be an option.

You can use the TempExcelBuffer for exporting the excel file.

You can use the TempExcelBuffer for exporting the excel file.

But that means you will have to write explicit code for every single table,

And that will not be very efficient I think.

Hi, I don't know what purpose you need, generally use APIs to connect with other systems.
If you just need to export data, as mentioned by several experts above, Configuration Package is the best way, no additional setup or customization is required.

If you want to export all data at once, you can try the following method.

    Hope this helps as well.

    Thanks.
