Enable Save after Workflow Changes

Hi All,

We have a workflow that updates an opportunity records status and we have multiple views that look at these opportunities based on their status.
However, we're having an issue where the workflow is running > changing the status but not saving the record so it does not appear in the correct Opportunity view.
This can be resolved simply by someone going into the Opportunity record and saving it but isn't ideal.

Any suggestions?

Many Thanks

Could you tel on which action the workflow is triggering. If the workflow is triggering when the record is open then we need to re-open the record to get the changes reflected.

    Hi,

you may want to double check what's happening there - workflows are saving changes directly to CRM. You may not be able to see some of those changes in the user interface, though, until you have refreshed/reloaded the form/view.

For that matter, how do you know that the workflows are running?

Thanks for the quick responses! - just to mention we have auto-save disabled if that makes any difference?

The workflow is triggered via a button on a related Sales Order.

When there is a connection to an Opportunity, it updates that Opportunity to Pending (Open) if an invoice is to be sent at a later date (via a invoice delay feature we built in) & to Won/Lost as the Sales Order is Invoiced/Cancelled.

The related Opportunities, when seen in a view, still display as in progress  whereas if you open it, the status has changed appropriately just the record has not been saved & saving it moves it to the appropriate view.

    Hope that makes sense

I am having a similar issue with Accounts Entity where Calculated Field is not updating unless you go into each entity and click save. any help with this would be great!

    Hi JSpalding,

think I've missed your response.. if this is still an issue, could you post a screenshot of what shows up where? Not sure I understand.. right now it sounds as if you were running a workflow through a custom ribbon button.. in which case it's possible you are not calling "refresh" there(through javascript), and that's why you don't see the changes.

    Hi Colin,

     please have a look here:

    www.greenbeacon.com/.../ms-dynamics-crm-2015-understanding-calculated-and-rollup-fields

"Upon each form load, view rendering, or any other step which requires this attribute, the database performs the calculation to return the value through the application layers."

EDIT:  Actually, ignore this.. sounds like the problem you have there is that it's not working as described at that link..

RE: Enable Save after Workflow Changes

Thank you for replying Alex, I am not sure i have explained the scenario correctly.

We have 3 sets of Calculated fields culminating in the 3rd being a sum calculation of the first two. i then have a 4th Calculated field that is populated based on multiple if x= y and if else calculations resulting in a different value in the 4th field based on the calculations of the 1st and 2nd calculated field and an additional text fields criteria.

the only way I have been able to execute the calculated filed refresh is to go into each account and click on the Save button (I should note on entering the account entity is automatically states there are unsaved changes) i have Auto Save switched off sue to some workflows we have.

I tried writing a general workflow that updates a field in each account hoping that save would carry through and save the calculated field as well but it does not do it, it only saves the updated field.

We do not want to use any kind of java script and are keeping everything clean using OOB.

Is there a way the workflow I created can be forced to do a save as if each account had been opened and the Save and Close button then selected?

    Thank you in advanced

    Colin

Hi Alex, If i enable Auto Save will that then pull the calculated field information for the account entity without the need to go into each account?
