Dynamics CRM Merge records: Avoid duplicate child (related entity) records

Friends, the scenario is as follows,

There are 2 different parent records with identical child records on both. When a default merge is performed, the child records gets duplicated, the related record values are exactly the same for both parent records. This way: after the merge, i have 2 same child records on the master record.

Can this be restricted?  Any pointers on this will be of help!

Non - identical child records will have to be merged.

Thanks

CRM doesn't support merging child records out of the box, unless you do duplicate detection on those child records explicitly.
