How to create a custom entity to import header and line records at a time through DMF?

Hi All ,

I have custom tables header and line .

in this table i want to import data by using DMF.

Please provide me steps to achieve and excel template to import data?

You need to create new entities for your tables. You can read more on the AX help pages:

How to edit data and publish from Excel:

Hi veeru ogu,

The easiest way is to build two separate entities: one for header and one for lines.

In case you are talking about AX 7 please ignore my previous post because it was about 2012.

You need to follow André's advice and create new Data Entity.

Hi Andre,

I have a requirement to create a single entity for Purchase order header and line in D365 F & O 7.3. I see that there are two seperate data entities (Purchase order header v2 and Purchase order lines v2). Is it not possible to create a single entity and any specific reason why MS created two seperate ones. I can think of building a view using purchtable and purchline and adding it as a datasource in the entity. Can you please give me a better approach if there is one?

Hi Sirkanth,

You are using a very old thread, suggest that you create new one's going forward. you can refer this in your question.

Now to answer, there is concept of composite entities where you can just use purchtable / purchline as child entities. The only restriction of using this composite entity is that you have to use XML as data source, you can't use excel etc.

Another option is to create entity on your own and then you manage the creation of header/lines just from one excel.

Did you manage to get the entity built for your requirements. I have the similar requirement to build a custom data entity to import the purchase order header and line records at a time through single file.
