Cannot create new users on LCS

As an Admin account on Lifecycle Services, I am trying to set up my colleagues as new organisational users (not project specific) so they can access the Microsoft Academy resource.  It appears to let me 'Add user' and submit.  However the new user is not then receiving the Microsoft invite email expected.  the user just shows as 'Pending' and nothing happens.

There does not appear to be any Microsoft support on this as it asks for a support contract that we do not have for LCS specifically.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks

I don't think any email is sent when the user is given access to LCS. Instead he/she should just login using the O365 (or MS) account that was given in the Project users form. The user is "pending" until he/she has logged in to the project for the first time.

However granting user rights in LCS has nothing to do with creating new user accounts. You will only grant user rights to an already existing account. (By the way LCS doesn't check if such account exists or not).

If you want to give your users access to Microsoft Academy, I think you should invite them in your PartnerSource / CustomerSource. When this invite is sent, the user will receive an email. That email contains a link which he/she can use to associate their O365 and/or MS account with your PartnerSource / CustomerSource subscription. But even then you are not creating new accounts, you are associating existing accounts to your Customer/Partner source subscription.

New user accounts must be created in the Office365 Admin center, or Azure Active Directory. Or in case of AX2012 LCS projects, you can also use Microsoft accounts (which the users create themselves).

So it seems you might be confusing several things. If my message didn't help you, could you please provide more information about what you are trying to do and what kind of user accounts already exist in your organization.

    Thanks Nikolaos

I think we were indeed confusing different things as I have now worked out access to the eLearning academy although it's still not clear how the Microsoft accounts are associated in the background.  It seems you can 'skip' one of the log in stages when it cannot find your details and logs you in anyway!  It makes no sense but we can find a way in now thank you.
