Efficient way to update contacts after data validation

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all,

We recently used a 3rd party for data validation. I now have a CSV file with contacts that are still valid, and a seperate CSV file for contacts that are no longer valid. The latter set is the set I'd like to deactivate/delete/remove them from our database. Is there an efficient way to do this in bulk, without significant risk?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You can create an SSIS package using KingswaySoft, use the csv file as your Source Connector, and read the file contents. Add a derived column where you set the values for StateCode and StatusCode fields, and do an update on all these records in CRM setting the new State Code and Status Codes.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

In your CSV file you can set the status field and import data in CRM, but the problem is that you can only update CRM data using files which is exported from CRM only, if you don't have much record you can export contact record to excel and can do vlookup to identify which one you need to deactivate and then you can setup their status and reimport them, crm will deactivate those records.

Other options could be to have .net console applicaiton which will deactivate records in CRM based on CSV record set.

Other options is look for tools available in market like SSIS toolkit

    Thanks
