Hello Experts, In CRM by mistake bulk accounts(around 400,000) are created.

Now i want to migrate these accounts into contact with all relationship entities like:opportunity, lead, case, invoice, orders..etc. we can do this by two approach:

1.can do migration with same GUID as of account have.

2.Can do with create new contact GUID .

Can anyone suggest me which one i'll take forward.

so after migration it will not impact running system.

    Hi Tin,

    1. No you cant use same Guids all records should have unique guids

    2. Yes you can force your import to allow crm to create guid which is recommenmed approach for imports

Why don't you do a bulk Delete Job on the Accounts you Imported, and import the Constacts?

Also  what method are you using to import these records?

    Best Wishes, Raz

    Hello Raz,

I am doing migration by SCRIBE tool.

So,I just take a record from account entity and push it into contact entity.

After migration I'll disable all migrated accounts records,i can't delete it.

Can you give me any valid reason why I have to go with new GUID?

If I'll use same GUID what accounts have I don't have to do too much work for

relationship migration. It will just done by SQL UPDATE query by set object type =2.

Please suggest me i am in bit confusion,I have two approaches which one is more fisiable I don't know.

Hi tin, Your Approach is not recommended approach as it will affect the CRM functionality in the long run

Scribe makes it easy for you to import so why not import the Contacts Correctly, and Run a Bulk Delete job on the Accounts you imported, maybe using the Created on or identifier / view for imported accounts?

    Hi Raz,

    first Thanks for you interest....

You are right I am also think so,but don't know the valid reason why have not taken with same GUID instead of creating new.

I am using Scribe for the import accounts to contacts after the mapping fields.

Then after I find contacts with new GUID...I'll update these new GUID into other related

entities like opportunity,lead,activity....etc. to making relationship like same as i have in account entity.

As you suggest me i haven't continue with same GUID but did you have any valid reason?

I just straight way for the account to contacts migration because I have 400000 records

    in live environment.

Please suggest me ..........with reason,I haven't any idea which one is good approach or which bad.

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM SDK Best practices for developing with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, states, Allow the system to automatically assign the GUID (Id) for you instead of manually creating it yourself. This suggestion allows Microsoft Dynamics CRM to take advantage of sequential GUIDs, which provide better SQL performance.

Also you don't want to cause confusion to your users where guids for 2 different records are the same, even if they do have different object ids
