Email Alert when lead is assigned

Hi everyone,

Just created a workflow to send an email alert out to the new owner when a new lead is assigned.

Web leads are coming through to the Unassigned Leads view and then the manager will assign the leads to different users or each user will pick up leads for themselves. The problem I have is when each user will pick up leads on their own. They will still receive the warning email which is a little bit annoying as they already know about the lead.

Is there a way I can filter to send the email out only if the person assigning the lead is assigning it to another user but not to himself ?(so the current user and the new owner are different)

Thank you

That's the only way to find out who is running the workflow. If you tweaked the requirement so the new assignee always gets emailed, you would be able to do that with the built-in functionality. Sorry.

    Hi Vikas/Aiden,

So is the custom workflow the only solution I have?

    Thanks

    Hi Bobby,

Here's how you would get the workflow's executing user as an output parameter. If UserA reassigns the case and the workflow runs as UserA, this will let you use the user in your comparisons.

    Thanks,

You can check if the current user is same as the owner of the lead or not. If not, then only send the email. You might have to write a custom activity to output the user available in the context and then match it in the condition step with owner of the lead.

    Hope this helps.
