Setting priority for machine centers in a work center while scheduling

I have three machines for performing a certain operation, M1, M2 and M3. each machine is of different age and speed.

M1 is new and faster machine. So , while planning i want M1 to be selected as first priority , it it is not available then M2 as second priority and last priority is M3.

is it possible?  If yes, how?

    Typically this requires an add-on.  Check out Netronic VAPS.  They do have an entry level visual scheduler, but it doesn't automatically prioritize.  If you are okay managing this manually set up another machine center that you call standby that receives all of the production orders then the production orders are moved to actual machine centers manually via drag and drop inside of Netronic VPS.

    Not possible with out of the box Business Central.  Even with traditional visual drag and drop scheduling boards such as Netronic's VPS, you assign the Work Center then manually place it on the Machine Center you want to utilize.  I believe the Advanced Production Scheduler has better options for accomplishing your goals.

    I really like the Insight Work's MxAPS extension.  I feel it is the functionally strongest scheduling tool available for Business Central.  I would encourage you to check out their monthly webinars to see the capabilities of the product.  If you are using Manufacturing and you aren't using some of the Insight Work's extensions, you're missing out on some great capability.
