Item layout suggestions.

Hello all, i am new to business central but have been in business management for a while.

We have read the online resources provided by Microsoft but we are left with some confusion as to how to layout our items and services.

Here is an example. of a service that has both labor and item line items

  • service:
    • mobile document services, it has a base hourly charge.
  • Sub service
    • when we do that service it can include copies, of which we need to track the number of copies to delegate the cost of paper (different types cost different amounts) and the cost of the printer lease usage count.

We have a lot more examples such as "document redaction" has a in person price and a remote price, but its time labor based. so in this case if in person, the document redaction would be 1 part of the services rendered while there, and we wouldn't need to bill by each sub service but rather the parent service but listing the sub services on the invoice.

If i can answer any questions for clarification please let me know, our heads are spinning on how to do this in business central.

Hi, It seems that your needs are very close to the Job module. You can add resources or items for a task.

    Hope this helps.
