Setting up home

First off, apologies if this question has been answered before. I've browsed through old posts but I've found none that really solves my question.

I've been tough that the home button takes you always to the first entity of the left-side panel.

However, I'm aware that any user can define his/her own landing page for the home button through Personal Settings, and regardless of the position of the selected entity in the side menu.

Is it true that -as administrator- I cannot define for all what any user can for himself?

Just to clarify: I don't care if users change their landing page at a later stage, I just want to define the standard “out of the box” behaviour of the home button.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Check out the User Settings Utility in the XRMToolbox. It will allow you to set the Default Pane and Default Tab for your users, along with many other personal settings.

You will find quite a few other useful tools in the Toolbox, so take some time to explore it!

There are two ways you can achieve that

    1. Manually using a tool whenever the new user is created (the licence and security role is assigned)
      1. You can use User Settings Utility from XrmToolBox to select the users and set the Default Pane and Default Tab.
      2. If the User Settings Utility is not able to show the subarea correctly because of multiple model-driven app, you can use SQL 4 CDS XrmToolBox tool to update with SQL query.
        1. Here is the sample query. Replace the GUID or run without WHERE clause to update for all users
        2. UPDATE usersettings SET homepagearea = 'Main', homepagesubarea = 'NewSubArea_Contacts' WHERE systemuserid = '00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000'
    2. Use Power Automate to update the usersettings on create of new User.

There is no OOB functionality to change the personal user settings as an administrator.

One way to achieve this is through XRMtoolbox solution.
