Be able to rename column names in Views

What would be nice is to have the ability to rename Columns in Views. I know that hat appears is the Value in the Display Name of the field but it would be nice to have a level of abstraction so that I can have different column names in different Views. Also is when you add a related Entity there is the additional nuisance of (Object) be added.

Thanks,

Richard.

You can rename the column names. Simply change the display name of the field and publish your changes. The field's display name is displayed as the column name in a view and field label on a form, but you can change the display name and field label so they have different values.

But you can't have the same field having different names when used in different views. I think that would be confusing anyway. And I think it's useful to have the name of the related entity in the column name so that I know which entity the field comes from (I've seen implementations where different columns from different entities are displayed and they all have the same name, so it's handy to know which is which).

I can relate to what you are saying but there are times when it is useful to shorten the column name so that you can see more in a grid eg Reference Number changed RefNo  thus providing more space for other columns.

Is there another method via JSCRIPT that would allow changes to be made.

If the label "Reference Number" is too long then change the field name to "Ref No". This will be used in all views where this column is displayed. If you want the full label displayed on the form, then you can change the form field label to "Reference Number".

This is no supported method for changing column headings when a grid is loaded.

I am Searching for a solution about it too . Especially when in the names that use, is auto added the ( Connected To ) remark.

If renaming the field name isn't going to work for you then you should raise an enhancement request at Microsoft connect
