API Integration Business Central Cloud with on-premises

Hi!

I have 2 Business Central environments. One Cloud, the other On-premises. I would like to integrate data exchange between these two environments after API.

Calling the Cloud endpoint on the on-prem side is not a problem, but I wonder how to solve it the other way.

On both the Cloud and on-prem side, I have an API done on codeunit, which is exposed as a WebService.

How do I call the on-prem endpoint from the Cloud environment? I assume some sort of VPN will be needed here. Is there any solution via Azure or other Microsoft tools?

Best Regards

    Hi

Use Self-hosted Gateway + Azure API Management
    Install self-hosted gateway on-prem.
Register and manage APIs via Azure API Management.
    Another Option
    Use VPN or ExpressRoute
Set up a secure connection between Azure and on-prem.
Host a middleware (e.g., Azure Function) that accesses on-prem directly.

    Thanks,
    KP

Power Automate can be used to integrate data between on-premises and cloud Business Central environments. It enables secure communication and data exchange by connecting to on-premises APIs using a gateway.

Hi, In addition, there is a similar standard function that can synchronize On-Pre and SaaS data, which I hope can also give you some hints.

To integrate the Business Central API between its online (cloud) and on-premises versions, you'll typically use the Business Central REST API and potentially Power Automate or other integration tools. This allows for secure communication and data exchange between the two environments.
