Hi all,

My users are having issues when exporting from smartlist to excel. The date fields from smartlist as displayed in the excel column as "=DATE (2012,6,21)" and not as per the required format DD/MM/YYYY.

How can I resolve this?

Thanks in advance.

SARAS

The format "=DATE (2012,6,21)" is showing only in the excel function section not on cells. This is standard. Just copy the whole column values and paste the values with using paste special option in excel.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Hi Saras,

I think the date format on the system under Region and Language has set to YYYY/MM/DD so when you export from smartlist to excel that has this format.  So once you change the setting on region log out of GP and log back and your date format should work fine.

    thanks,

    Hi Soma,

Actually all the cells are displaying this. E.g if the data in the cell should be 30/08/2013, what is displayed in the cell is =DATE(2013,8,30), if the data in the cell should be 09/09/2013, what is displayed in the cell is =DATE(2013,9,9)

So each cell contains the date function of the actual date value.

Users do not want to copy and paste special the values. They didn't have this issue before.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Saraswathy

    Hi Babu,

The problem is not the date format but the Excel DATE function appearing on the cells after exporting from Smartlist to Excel.

    Thanks.

I am afraid the user has used the Export solutions in Smartlist to reuse the same formatted spreadsheet. Have you tried to use another workstation with an "sa" account, would it still occur ?

    Your feedback is highly appreciated,

    Saras,

You are correct. But date values showing in excel function field as  DATE(2013,8,30). This is standard. All the smartlist date values are showing same like this. For exporting date values to excel, there is only one way(Date function in excel) available. Developer using date function to paste the values through dexterity to excel. No other option available for change this.

Before you never seen the date values in excel function field as 30/08/2013.

Why are you worry about this? This is not problem. You can use all the functions like copy, paste and cut without any problem.

    Hope this helps!!!

    I agree with Mahmoud Saadi.

    Hello SARAS,

Can you please verify that your are not using the SmartListEnhancedExcelExport switch in your DEX.ini, please go to GP Folder\Data\Dex.ini and remove this switch if it was exist.

    Hi Mahmoud.

Users are not reusing the same spreadsheet. Even 'sa' gets the same result.

    Thanks.

Under Excel Options, there is an option to "Show formulas in cells instead of their calculated results".  Perhaps it would help is that were unchecked.  The formulas would still be there, but they wouldn't show as formulas when viewing the cell.  Some of my clients have had this issue and they see the formula in the cell which bothers them.
