Taxes not calculating automatically

Posted on by 187

In a new company I setup when we go to create a new payables transaction the taxes are not being calculated automatically. I copied over almost all the setup information from another company including the tax details and schedules but when we enter in the purchase ammount the taxes stay as 0 as per below screen shot. We have added all the tax details to the all taxes schedule and I ran a check links after importing the data. Does anyone have any idea how to get this working??

Thanks in advance

I have the same issue. Taxes are not being calculated automatically.

I have unchecked "Use Shipping Method When Selecting default Tax Schedule"

    in Company Setup.

    Rosemarie,

Since the transactions never look to the class for any information, did you roll your changes down so that it updated all of the creditors in that class?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi,

I have two Debtors - A and B. Taxes are calculated for A but not for B. What is wrong? I have checked

Shipping method - both have same

Tax schedule ID - both have same

Class ID - both have same

    Accounts - both have same

    I am using GP 2010.

    Thanks,

    Sai

I fixed it - Although I had correctly allocated the shipping method on the creditor card. The creditor class did not have a shipping method attached to it hence it was not calculating the tax on same automatically when I was posting the invoice  thanks

Rosemarie, Be sure that the tax details assigned to the item tax schedule are on the tax schedules assigned to the vendor.

If the shipping method is a 'Pickup', then the vendor's tax schedule is used to calculate sales tax. If the shipping method is a 'Delivery', your company's tax schedule is used.

This can all be overridden by a checkbox on the Company setup options window. If the checkbox below is NOT checked, then the vendor's tax schedule will always be used regardless of shipping method:

The default setting is that the box is checked.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Thanks to all but I figured it out from another answer on the forum. The problem was the tax schedule for our ALL taxes was not setup in the payables setup  options as per below screen shot we had nothing entered and after I put in the tax schedulke it worked.
