Hi friends,
I have come across https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/app-provisioning/plan-auto-user-provisioning . We use D365 for Human Resources for a year now and I am looking into the possibility of linking up the Azure AD with the dynamics. My aim is to automate user provisioning. Performing CRUD operations would just be an advantage.
Is there a way, to achieve this? Microsoft already has solutions for external apps and I am so looking forward to automate this.
Any idea?
Many thanks,
Kia
Hi Kia,
Can you elaborate more on your question? What exact automation are you looking for? Dynamics 365 HR is already relying on user creation in Azure AD. This service is authenticating the users.
Thank you André for quick response. In our organization like many others, HR needs to notify IT and IT creates users accounts on on-prem Active directory. I have created flows using automate flows to achieve this. However I'd like to think I can write to azure AD and Azure AD then can write back to on-prem AD and user gets created. What is the best practice?
With this, I could potentially automate leavers process too and disable the accounts.
Update on this, I have just noticed that there is Azure AD connector available. Basically, if write back on azure AD connect sync is configured, I should be able to write back and achieve my goal. Am I correct?
There is indeed an option to sync Azure AD with an on-prem AD. There are several blogs and documentation pages about this topic. You can also get more help on an Azure (AD) forum.
I also am interested in this. Did you ever get a solution?
Also interested in this topic. Why doesen’t D365 HR have an native Azure AAD connector and and why isn’t there built-in support for HR driven provisioning?

Anyone that have built a user provisioning from D365 to AAD or AD and could share your solution, lessons learnt etc.
Any idea if this is possibly planned for D365 HR?
Hi Adam,
I have a blog post on how to integrate Dynamics 365 HR with AAD. This was one of the roadmaps of Dynamics 365 HR however next year HR will merge back to F&O and Microsoft will plan to make the integration. I am not sure about the date.
See my blog post and if you have any questions then let me know.

Yes, have seen it and thanks for sharing!
Another question around this topic: any experience in using SailPoint, Okta or other 3rd party vendors for automated account provisioning, deprovisioning? I have seen that SailPoint have connectors towards the D365 CRM but are there others that could possibly support automated account provisioning, update, deprovisioning in Azure AD?
Hi André,
I just found this: docs.microsoft.com/.../how-to-install
Basically a user provisioning on-prem agent. What is your take on this?
