Consolidated reports across multiple companies

Could someone please advise on the best approach for creating financial reports across multiple companyfiles within Dynamics GP?  I am assuming FRx, but is there anything within GP that allows for this?  Any links or tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

Chris, you are correct.  FRx is the best option for this.  Nothing in GP will provide this functionality.  Indeed, GP's Financial Reports are too basic to be of much value even if you could consolidate across companies with them.

    Hope this helps,

Frank is absolutely correct in terms of the GP reports and FRx. The analysis cubes are multi-company but aren't made for generating financial reports.

Hi, best to manually set up a reporting tree in FRx with a reporting unit for each company (Usingthe company ID column in the Tree). Then create a column for each company in your reports column layout. Restrict each column to each of the units in the reporting tree...to do this click into the 'Reporting Unit' field in a column...then click on the down arrow that appears...double click the Reporting tree to display all of the units on that tree...and then finally double click a unit to select it...This column will now only display data related to that unit (in this case a particular company).

To consolidate all the companies, make your last column a 'Total' Column...adding together all the company columns.

If you have consolidation adjustments that you want to appear in a seperate column, one way to achieve this is to create a new company in GP called say 'Consol Company'...you can enter and post GL transactions in this company for consolidation eliminations. Add this company to the reporting tree...and then add it to the column layout just like the other 'Real' companies. This keeps consolidation adjustments out of the other companies legal accounts.

It obviously helps if all your companies can share a similar chart of accounts. But even if they are marketly different, you can still prepare a row format that handles all accounts. You can also restrict rows by Reporting Tree units.

    Hope this helps.
