Hello all,

I want my customer to propose 2 tier ERP, which is Dynamics AX and SAP.

So could you tell me why Microsoft HQ Uses SAP Instead of Microsoft Dynamics ERP?

And I would like to know why Microsoft subsidiaries use Dynamics ERP.

You would have to ask Microsoft, I guess. I think it could end up differently if they made the decision today, but they didn't have Dynamics AX yet when they were choosing their ERP system for finance.

Also note that even in Redmond, they use both SAP and Dynamics AX (for different purposes).

Hi Seiji,

I totally agree with Martin. In addition: Just as of a few months all Microsoft staff have to use the AX Expense app for reporting their expenses. This is now used world wide.

Apparently there are other factors as well. Microsoft has agreed with SAP to upgrade the existing SAP ERP they use and as a return SAP ERP can now be deployed on Microsoft Azure Cloud. So there is a 'give-take' relationship with SAP, and in my opinion Microsoft will earn a lot from the potential Azure subscriptions.
