Transfer Orders

We have set up our storage dimension so that coverage by dimension is activated for both the site and warehouse dimensions.

We set up two main warehouses and a transit warehouse.   The main warehouse from where the inventory will be pulled has been designated as a Refill warehouse and we have applied the transit warehouse to it as well.

However, we started seeing error messages when trying to firm our planned production orders stating the coverage dimensions are different.

We do have default warehouses entered for these items in the site specific order settings under the Inventory tab.  The same warehouse has been specified for this item if it has an item coverage plan so why are we getting this error message?

We noticed that when we went into released products and site specific order settings and removed the default warehouse, then we were able to firm the planned order.    Is this standard functionality that we cannot have default warehouses entered at the released product?  Or are we missing another set up somewhere?

Oh, I see.  We need to enable viewing the dimensions in the Planned Order grids.  I was able to firm a planned order without receiving the error.   Thank you!

Unfortunately, I don't think it will be as easy as enabling Display Dimensions on the planned order list page. I suspect that, next time you get the error, you will see it is for a planned order which has a <blank> warehouse. Then you'll want to work out why that has happened.

Another question though, If we have selected coverage by warehouse dimension, should we be de-activating the coverage dimension by Site?

No, I think you need both. I think it won't let you have Coverage by Warehouse if Coverage by Site is not also enabled.

It's not the item coverage; the Planned order has no warehouse. Go to Master planning -> Common -> Planned orders. In the Action pane -> View -> Display -> Dimensions. Enable 'Site' and 'Warehouse'.

In the Planned order list, do the planned orders have both a Site and Warehouse?

In the item coverage plan, we do have a warehouse specified.  It matches the default warehouse on the released product.  That is why we don't know why we are getting the "the coverage dimensions are different"

    Hi,

I managed to reproduce. If the Planned order has no Warehouse, but the item has a default stock warehouse, then you get this error. If you're planning at warehouse level, why does your Planned order have no warehouse?

    RE: Transfer Orders

The error occurs when trying to form planned production orders.

    The error message is:

    FIRMING :

     Number:  Planned Order #

         Planned order Site = ANDOVER

Production order Site = ANDOVER, Warehouse = NEWPORT

               The coverage dimensions are different.

     X Update has been cancelled.

    Hi

Can we get the exact text of the error 'coverage dimensions are different'? And this is in relation to a planned production order? (Not a planned transfer?)
