when I reconcile payables to gl and it opens up in excel, I try to sort by a column and I receive this message This operation requires the merged cells to be identically sized how do I correct this so I may sort?

XL 2003...I know its there somewhere.. but I don't have it installed. From memory there is a button on the standard toolbar along the top of thewindow - its like a rectangle with two arrows in it (I think..or maybe I just imagined that!!).
Has anyone else got xl 2003 installed and can help Patricia??

I am having no luck here we are using excel 2003 I can not find the merge and center, which is why I am having such a problem. I looked and looked the other day before going on line.
Do you have any suggestions

Hi, depends on what version of MS Office you are using. Highlight the complete spreadsheet (by clicking the box where the A column and First row meet). Then select 'Merge and Centre'. This will remove all merged cells. No such thing as a silly question!

This is a strictly XL issue. One way is to not select the whole column. Just select those records you want to sort. Or you could remove the merged cells from the spreadsheet?
