Text Area Expands Exponentially

Hey Guys,

We have a bunch of text areas("notes") fields that we use. When you enter a massive amount of text the text area box expands way beyond what is set on that fields rows to display setting in the fields properties. I need to know how to make a text area a box that is lets say 3 rows big and anymore than that, then it provides a scrollbar to see the rest.

Hi,

Do you have the 'expand to use available space' checkbox set on the formatting tab?

Are you using the notes tab of the Posts/Activities/Notes control?

If so, I don't think there is a way of restricting the height of notes on this control.

No, this is a custom field that we just called "Notes"

"single line of text"

"Text Area"

Hi Jordan,

I've reproduced your issue and although the scroll bars appear when you are typing in the long text, when the page refreshes the text box expands to show it all. I suspect that this is by design so that all the content is made visible quickly - but I can see how this causes an issue.

Perhaps the best way forward would be to log a connect issue at https://connect.microsoft.com/
