Hello everyone,
I want to install ISV deployable package to development server through LCS which is cloud hosted environment but having the issue because my LCS admin password is different than VM password and that is why LCS is not allowing me to do that and when I try to change the VM password to same as LCS one (which was the original and initial one) then the VM throw me error i.e. "Your password must meet Microsoft policy". So I want to know below two things to proceed.
1. How can I change the password of LCS if I am unable to change the password of the VM?2. If I go with manual installation of package through command prompt then how can I take the full backup of development server which is cloud-hosted before trying the manual installation through command prompt?
Thanks
Hi Muhammad,
Depending on the change someone did, there are more easy ways. If it is only about wrong data, then you can restore the backup. If it is about mistakes in coding, in Visual Studio, someone can compare versions and revert changes.
I have never had the thought to backup cloud hosted environments. There is documentation about this topic, but I don't know if it could break some features when restoring the VM. About Azure VM backup - Azure Backup | Microsoft Learn
Hi Andre, Thanks for the suggestions
1. I will try this and will let you all know.
2. Full backup like snapshot or something so that I can quickly revert the old state if something goes wrong while doing any kind of changes. Backup the database, deploy a new VM, connect to DevOps, get latest and continue development; looks long route and I am trying to save some time :-)
So taking the full backup is possible in cloud-hosted dev environment? or there is only an option which you have advised?
1) You might be able to change the password policy in Windows Server. Then revert the password.
2) What is the purpose of this full backup? Usually, you can backup the database, deploy a new VM, connect to DevOps, get latest and continue development.
1. I tried to do the password change of the VM same as the LCS one but got the error that the new entered password is not as per microsoft policy. I dont know why it says that because I entered the same password which was showing on LCS.
2. Besides DB backup, if I want to take full VM backup of development server than how can I do that? e.g. Like snapshot or VHD backup etc.
As far as I know, you CAN NOT change the password generate for the VM on LCS.
You should change the password on the VM machine to reflect what is available on LCS.
When you talk about backup, I believe you are talking about the Data and your source code. The first can be achieved via a database backup. You should use Azure DevOps to save your code.
Hi Komi,
Yes, the VM password was changed by the team member one month before because there was a pop up in the VM which says, it will expire in 1 day and from there the problem starts I think.
About drive C, it has 40GB free space which is fine I think.
If I can get the advices on my 2 initial questions I think we can get hold of this situation. Can you please advice on that.
The question would be, did you change the password of the VM yourself in the past for any reason ?
You might also want to confirm that, the drive C is your VM is not full.
Hi Martin, Sorry, the LCS password means the development server password which is located on the LCS >> Cloud-hosted environment screen. Please see below image for the reference. This should be same with the VM same account password.
When I try to apply the package from LCS, it give me below error. when I download the logs, then 0KB file get downloads every time.
I try to click Resume option multiple times but no success. After doing some research and troubleshooting I came to know that password shouldn't be different it must be same as mentioned in below link.Deployment failed from LCS - Dynamics 365 Finance Forum Community Forum
and that is why I am looking for the advises about the two questions which I asked initially related to this thread. Hope this clarify the situation.
That the password of the AAD account used for authentication with LCS is not the same as password of local admin accounts on VMs is a normal (and good) thing. That's not the problem.
Please tell us what happens when you try to apply the package from LCS. And also why - are you trying to install a binary model before putting to source control?
