Changing domain in the same tenant

Hi,

I have case where the Dynamics was deployed with admin@domain1.onmicrosoft.com user. And the subsequent users were created on domain1.onmicrosoft.com.

Now we have added the domain company1.com.

If I simply change the user domain to admin@company1.com I wont be able to login due to different ObjectIDs.

Can the domain be changed without losing access and user data?

Appreciate any tips.

Best regards,

    Hi MYGz,

I have not mentioned to delete the user and create a new one. You can change the details on an existing user, taking into considerations the comments I provided above.

    Hello Andre,

So if there's a user with user ID user@domain1.onmicrosoft.com and I have to change it to user@company1.com, I'll have to delete the first id and then import the 2nd ID? In this case the user data will be gone. All the customized form views will have to be redone.

In development environment if we change the object ID and provider in ther UserInfo table then I believe the user can continue to work with the new ID and all the user data also be safe. But we dont have the access to SQL in UAT and Prod. Perhaps we can raise a request to microsoft for this?

    Hi MYGz,

When you want to add users from another domain, you have to alter the Provider field from https://sts.windows.net/ to sts.windows.net/company1.com. In an environment you can't change the login details of the Admin user.
